General Description
The Shipping Coordinator manages all aspects of the daily shipping functions. This role ensures accuracy, efficiency, and safety in outgoing logistics, while maintaining clear communication across departments and external transportation partners. This position reports directly to the Supply Chain Manager.
Primary Duties/ Responsibilities
- Shipment Preparation: Run/monitor open sales orders backlog reports; monitor packed material inventory levels and prepare them for timely shipment.
- Dock Coordination: Welcome arriving truck drivers and direct them to appropriate loading dock/area for both incoming and outgoing shipments.
- Documentation Management: Generate and process accurate shipping documentation, such as packing slips, address labels, and Bills of Lading (BOL).
- System Updates: Maintain and update the shipping and sales inventory control system in real-time
- Internal Communication: Keep shipping department supervisor and team members informed of daily operational changes, including truck arrivals, delays, or cancellations.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with other internal departments to share critical shipment updates.
- Inventory Control: Support inventory accuracy by participating in routine weekly/monthly inventory counts.
Minimum Qualifications
Candidates should have a high school diploma. Strong computer skills including Microsoft Excel and Word are required. Experience with an ERP system such as JDE preferred. Attributes: Detail-oriented with strong organizational and communication skills to effectively manage a fast-paced shipping environment.
