Production Engineer
Job Description
At Mersen the production engineer is the key technical interface between purchasing, planning, quality, manufacturing, and the design engineering team. This individual uses their knowledge of engineering and manufacturing to facilitate and support the production of chemical processing equipment.
Key Responsibilities
- Creates, updates, and maintains part numbers, bills of materials and routings to reflect design changes or newly developed products.
- Develops routings to optimize inventory usage and reduce product lead times.
- Leads technical design reviews of customer requirements, specifications, designs, and codes.
- Ensures products conform to all applicable Mersen and customer specifications and standards.
- Ability to work with various departments to facilitate the orderly execution of a proposed project plan
- Account for possible project challenges or constraints and proactively seeks to manage those challenges
- Leads or assists in the development and implementation of documented process enhancements to improve the accuracy of BOMs and routings.
- Understand cost impacts of changing BOMs and Routings as well as impacts on production capacity & loading, inventory levels, and lead times
Minimum Qualifications
- A.S. degree in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline
- 2 years engineering experience
- Proficiency with CAD and Microsoft Office
Preferred Qualifications
- B.S.M.E Mechanical Engineering or B.S.E.T. Mechanical Engineering Technology
- Proficiency with Microsoft Project
- Proficiency with Autodesk Inventor or Solidworks
- Strong fabrication/welding knowledge
- Understanding of ASME Section VIII Division 1 rules
- Understanding of pressure vessel design
- Understanding of JD Edwards/Oracle ERP system
- Strong CNC machining knowledge
- Strong CAM knowledge

- Guarantees the sustainability and a continuous enhancing of jobs skills related to methods and industrialization, through trainings for instance. Knowledge can come from manager’s own expertise or from other trainings..

- Conducts technical studies on new processes (assembly, machining, special processes, …) through internal & external benchmark and by suggesting industrial improvements..

- Sets requested technical and human resources to achieve budgeted tasks..
>> Assessment indicator : Work-out of a Budget including financial and HR resources related to budgeted tasks
- Masters department budget and develops dashboards to monitor industrialization cost & CAPEX follow-up..

- Evaluates upstream safety, quality, supply chain risks related to industrialization processes..

- Improves industrialization performance by defining and upgrading industrialization procedures, technical specifications, rules, ….
