Applications Engineer

Main missions

The key process for the Applications Engineer is to work with customers to design and implement innovative ideas for the ongoing challenges with busbars. The work will include communication with internal and external teams to provide winning solutions that meet the customer requirements. The engineer will oversee each design from initial design to prototyping.   The engineer will also be responsible for costing for new and repeat jobs.

Main duties

1. Work with customers on designing optimal busbar solutions using in house tools and simulation software Comsol.
2. Respond to technical queries from customers, inside and outside sales representatives.
3. Visit customers to promote products and discuss applications.
4. Work with manufacturing team to finalize a working solution for the customer.
5. Understand and support on-line busbar design tool.
6. Complete cost estimates on new projects and support repeat work.
7. Develop strategy for new projects and quotes to increase chance for winning new orders 

Requested Knowledge, Competencies and Abilities:

1. Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or Mechatronics
2. Excellent communication and presentation skills
3. Must have a valid driver’s license and passport (travelling to Canada will be required after 1 year)
4. Knowledge of AutoCAD, Inventor is an asset.
5. Knowledge of inductance and partial discharge is an asset.
6. Knowledge of Comsol is an asset.

Work Environment

This job operates in a production office environment. The employee is occasionally exposed to shop elements such as noise, dust, fumes and odors. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.

Compensation Data

Salary Range: $75,000.00 - $85,000.00 based on expierence
