Mission
In the role of Engineering Technician, you will provide support for the design engineering, manufacturing engineering, test lab, marketing teams, and others in fabrication of parts for new products, prototypes, and established products in testing. Assist with the evaluation and troubleshooting of current products and new products may be required.
Main Accountabilities
- Fabricate intricate parts, assemblies, and devices to meet team’s project requirements.
- Conduct a variety of standard and non-standard tests in accordance with UL, CSA, or engineering specifications.
- Make suggestions to supplement ease of manufacture or of modifications in the designs.
- Keep accurate, thorough records of activities and changes that relate to each assigned project. Communicate data to other teams or departments.
- Backup to shipping and receiving department as needed.
- Other duties as may be required
Required Skills
- 5-10 years of experience as a technician or equivalent training
- Knowledge of electrical concepts (voltage, current, power …etc.)
- Ability to read blueprints and work from simple sketches
- Experience in assembling a wide variety of electromechanical devices, including but not limited to soldering
- Knowledge of basic inspection
- Knowledge of basic mechanical and electrical machines
- Ability to instruct or train others on new processes and procedures as well as normal operating procedures
- Experience with power tools, drill press, band saw
- Experience with a lathe is a plus
- Experience with x-ray is a plus
- Experience developing equipment is a plus
- Experience with stamping and forming dies is a plus
- Knowledge of how a fuse works electrically (short circuit, melt time, temperature, …etc.) is a plus
- Familiar with UL, CSA and IEC standard is a plus
- Knowledge of electrical calibration requirements
- Lifting up to 50 pounds
The expected wage for this position is between $30 and $35 per hour and will be eligible for incentive pay.
