Mission
As a member of the engineering department, this individual will support the engineering teams in order to meet their objectives. This individual will design and fabricate various products, parts, and or tool and die components, jigs & fixtures, as well as other duties as required
Main Accountabilities
- Manual machine & manual lathe work as required
- Design & build various components tools and die components for the engineering teams.
- Assists with fabrication and assembly of product prototypes & tooling when necessary.
- Work from rough sketches, preliminary drawings, and/or verbal discussions with Engineers.
- Team up with engineers to review new projects
- Make suggestions to improve concepts, tooling, drawings, and methods of fabrication.
- Estimate time to complete part batches, & projects.
- Ensure that related work orders reflect pertinent information discussed during project & part review.
- Maintains a working machine shop, managing & ordering inventories, budgets, & supplies.
- Design & build fixtures necessary to implement new projects.
- Work with Engineers and assist with designing new products or related tooling towards new prototype work.
- Work with Manufacturing and Manufacturing Engineering on development tooling.
- Manages a multi-machine multitasking environment to achieve maximum output.
- Support the operation of in-house 3D printers for R&D projects
- Willingness to embrace new technologies and processes.
Required Skills
- A.S. Degree or equivalent.
- 10 plus years of manual machine shop experience.
- Strong knowledge of machines in a manufacturing setting.
- Team oriented and self-directed.
- Experienced making & designing tools and dies. a plus
- SolidWorks and or equivalent CAD experience.
- CNC Manual Programming experience of Acu-Rite DRO’s or equivalent.
- CNC Programming experience a plus
- 3D printing experience and associated technologies a plus
- Experienced with Manual Milling and Manual Turning Equipment
- Experienced with Welding, Soldering, and Oxy-Acetylene Brazing.
- Experienced with Machine Shop Practices and machine maintenance
- Familiarity with Drafting.
- Ability to accurately read blueprints and or drawings.
- Lifting up to 50 lbs
The expected wage for this position is between $30 and $40 per hour and will be eligible for incentive pay.
