MISSION

In the role of Surge Protection Devices Business Development Manager you will be responsible for marketing, sales force and channel engagement/education, market material development, and product ideation and introduction activities relative to assigned products to maximize sales and profitability.  This position is located within Mersen USA EP Corp, but may be done remotely.  The position reports to the Senior Manager – Marketing and Product Management, North America - Surge Protection, and has responsibility to manage opportunities, development, pricing, and training for all assigned products in support of the Segment, BU strategy and the Product Business Line Plan.

 

DIMENSIONS OF THE POSITION:

MARKET DEVELOPMENT
  • Work with the sales team to drive business growth within the product line through sales to new customers and increased sales to existing key accounts and distributors distribution using leveraging existing pricing agreements.
  • Become contact for key accounts, within the product line, as assigned.
  • Maintain a comprehensive knowledge of the markets served and surveillance of market and economic changes and trends which could affect SPD sales and development.
  • Engage in prospecting, aggregating and assessing leads.  Sort leads and funnel to regional sales and keep accountability and support converting to sales. 
  • Reporting and communication: Create regional market analysis, market plans and action plans. Present to sales reps, sales managers, and internal management.  
  • To search for opportunities in new and existing markets for surge protection, and optimize bundling of surge protection with other Mersen products.
  • To contribute to, develop and maintain an up-to-date analysis of all pertinent competitive activity including pricing, products, and policies.
  • Manage engagement of channel through special marketing and training programs.  Coordinate lead information, market and industry feedback into actionable regional plans for sales reps.
  • To contribute to, develop and maintain an up-to-date analysis of all pertinent competitive activity including pricing, products, and sales promotions and programs.

 

TECHNICAL MARKETING

  • Contribute to market playbook and drive results to plan.  Work on brand label opportunities and custom products with collaborators.
  • Coordinate and initiate channels of communications for product information to end users, sales and distribution.
  • Contribute to the production and coordination of marketing collateral, reference material/technical information for publication to field sales and customers.
  • Support product training of: Field Sales, Representatives, Customer Service and Technical Support .
  • Contribute to the production of articles and press releases as required for newsletters, product data manuals, and articles for publication in pertinent trade journals.
  • Identifying new business opportunities and market trends through standards and code development.  Participate in codes and standards committees/groups and trade groups, as assigned..

MARKET ANALYSIS

  • To identify and validate new product needs of the marketplace from interaction with end users, distributors, OEM’s and the formal use of Voice of the Customer.
  • Contribute to market research through OEM sales analysis, and end user analysis and document and present consumer needs and preferences.
  • Contribute to market size, segmentation and market share estimations.
  • Maintain a comprehensive knowledge of the markets served and surveillance of market and economic changes and trends which could affect SPD sales and development.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in either Engineering, Business, Marketing, Operations, or Equivalent field.
  • Minimum 5 years sales and marketing experience.
  • Knowledge and experience in Electrical industry preferred.
  • Knowledge or experience in protection and safety of electrical devices preferred.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong presentation skills
  • Travel required up to 30%
