Main missions

  • Responsible for making sure the department operates accurately and efficiently; additionally, identifying issues and suggesting solutions.
  • Participates as a member of the leadership team to optimize company performance.
  • Communicates with peers and site management regarding daily operations, at the start and end of each shift.
  • Ability and willingness to coach, train, when needed, and answer production questions for shift team members.
  • Evaluates personnel for performance reporting, compensation recommendations and personal development
  • Participates in all required production meetings - supervisor, production planning, safety, metric reporting, etc..
  • Enforces company policies and procedures as they relate to first shift personnel, safety, attendance, quality and performance.
  • Assist production by operating within department.
  • Treat fellow employees with respect and conducts oneself as a role model for others.
  • Guarantees product conformity by ensuring that safety, cost, delivery and quality goals are achieved.
  • Regularly communicates and enforces company policies, rules, instructions and requirements within his/her team, and monitors implementation in the workshop.
  • Works to continuously improve production areas under his/her responsibility, by verifying the availability and capability of the equipment, materials and resources required to achieve stated goals..
  • Adopts a participative management style within his/her team: leads his/her team or, where appropriate, co-lead with the team leader, motivates, develops and retains his/her employees by suggesting training plans.
     

Qualifications

  • Technical degree or equivalent work experience
  • Strong written and verbal skills
  • Computer skills in business systems and Microsoft suite applications desired
  • Strong leadership skills
  • Good interpersonal skills
  • Proficiency in the use of basic measuring tools (tape measure, calipers, etc.)
  • Proficiency in reading blueprints
