Environmental Technician Level 2


Reports to: EHS Manager
General Description:
-
Assist EHS Manager in maintaining and improving regulatory requirements in accordance with MIOSHA (OSHA) and EGLE (EPA). This position will be a mixture of 50% Office and 50% Industrial experience.
Exemplary Duties/Responsibilities:
-
Maintain permitting status in accordance with Air, Sewer discharge, & Stormwater requirements.

Track permit requirements and assist in yearly reporting.

Ensure safety and environmental inspections, audits, and assessments are being completed with quality.

With engineering support, manage air permitting machinery for optimal function.

Assist/direct in maintenance of applicable Environmental and Safety Machinery.

Technical ability to make decisions and improvements.
-
Assist in training personnel on EHS programs.
-
Assist in Incident Investigations.
-
Maintain Safety Team.
-
Find and implement systematic improvements.
-
Assist in cultural change.
-
Liaison with EHS Management and EHS group.
Minimum Qualifications:
Postsecondary education in EHS, technical, or science related field. Three+ years related experience in industrial or
consulting. Equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered. Must be self-motivated and have strong interpersonal and written communication skills. Must be able to wear a respirator and other appropriate protective equipment.
Skills
• Microsoft Excel & Word
• Experience with MIOSHA Standards.
• Experience in (or a combination of) Air Permitting (Scrubbers, Dust Collectors), Sewer Treatment, Stormwater, Hazardous and Non-Hazardous Waste handling.
• Employee Training abilities
• Assist in Hazop/PHA assessments.
• Technical writing
• Detail oriented
• Ability to achieve certification of Stormwater Operator and DOT/RCRA Hazardous Waste Management
• Continual Learner
• Chemical experience
• Industrial sampling experience preferred
• Risk Management Plan experience is a plus
